Hi fwiends
I'm just off to order some hay, probably from dust free hay.
For those of you who have dental bunnies. Do your bunnies prefer soft or stalky hay? I would have thought soft but I just wanted to see what others had to say about it.
Thank you.

Hmmm i'm not sure my dental bun has any preference she tends to play with it all more than eating, why not try a smapler pack that the hay experts do to see which your bun can eat easiest xx

Evo's not had the choice from DFH before, when I ordered last there wasn't a choice. I do notice though, that when he first comes back from a dental, it's the very hard stalks of hay that he eats first. He normally prefers softer though.

If you bun has frequent dentals due to spurs, then I would say def get the Stalkier version as this will help grind down those pesky spurs more! My lot prefer stalky. :D

The problem I have with my boy is that I have trouble getting him to eat any hay at all so I wonder which he is more likely to eat.
Hi Laura:wave:,
What hay does Evo like? Did he have any hay from dust free hay? If so which type did he have? Did he like it? Hugs to gorgeous Evo.
I have tried the sample pack from hay experts....wasn't keen. Have tried so many different types and spent so much money on it all. The only hay he really liked was the vitaverde hay and dandelion but they changed the hay a year or so ago and he won't eat it anymore.
Any other suggestions gratefully received.

I have fussy buns too. I was using DFH meadow stalkier hay which they all loved apart from Frasier. I noticed he wasn't eating so much of it. I have since started using DFH Timothy Hay and now they all scoff it! :D
I think sometimes just like humans they get bored of eating the same one all the time so every now and then you have to change. As long as you get them eating it thats all that matters! Hay is the most important part of the diet!
There is a fab hay that they treat like chocolate!! I can't afford to buy it anymore as its too expensive for the amount I need for four bunnies. But Oxbow Green Oat Hay is fab. Its also very stalky so good for grinding those teeth down. Check out the Oxbow range. HTH

I usually get Soft from DFH but went on saturday and looked at and smelt (Mmm ) the hay and decided to try them with the stalkier stuff, neither of mine are dental buns but just thought that if they liked it it might be better for their teeth and reduce the chances of any teeth issues in the future.

Hi Binkybun:wave:
Which was the hay yours really really loved?
I have tried so many different varieties...it's so frustrating.
I've tried hay experts sample pack, burgess forage, burgess herbal hay, bunnybasics hays, just grass, simply grass, alfalfa king timothy, alfalfa king oat wheat and barley, oxbow timothy, meadow hays, farm hays and lots and lots of others. The only hay he liked was vitaverde hay and dandelion and he won't eat in anymore as they have changed the hay

I last ordered from them before they offered the choice between the 2 types. He did like the hay though. His favourite is Oxbow timothy, which I get in boxes. He also goes mad for "Bob Martin" hay from Sainsbury's of all things. :roll:I get it for his bedding, but he love to munch it too!! It was the first thing he ate when he was poorly the other week, and usually the first thing he eats after a dental too. Might be worth a try for Harvey? I also find that I have to give little and often, he's much more keen when the hay is "fresh" than when it's been out for half an hour.

Mine all prefer the stalkier including Santa my dental bun - although as someone else said she tends to play with it rather than eat it. The only things I can get her to eat any quantity of are oat hay and friendly dried grass.
