  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Jazzy B Bunny

Wise Old Thumper
well as some of you may know Jazz had an absess removed over a week ago, the swelling where the absess was has gone down when I went to pick him up the vet said that there was also 2 swolen lymph nodes, I didnt notice these before but now the swelling where the absess was has gone down I can now feel ither side 2 lumpy bits feels like his absess did are these the lymph nodes?

Also he has a lump on his back/scruff of the neck where he had his vhd jab on wednesday is this normal? :(

Hello

Yes - rabbits can have small lumps as a result from an injection. Jessica had a small lump when she had hers, but it should go down in a week or two.

With regards to the other questions I don't know but hopefully someone will be here soon to offer advice :D

I am by no means an expert on this and woudl suggest consulting your vet about the bumps but... i'm guessing that just like us rabbits can have reactions to injections and the lump on the back of Jazz's neck may be just that. If so it should calm down but it really is worth getting your vet to check if in doubt and esp if it results in any discomfort or change in eating habits. As for lymph nodes I woudl say much the same. If Jazz has had an absess then his lymph nodes will be working overtime to fight the infection - again like us if we are ill.

I'm assuming you are having post-op check ups so you can cask your vet about these things when you go?
