....rabbit dentists?!

i just called petplan to ask if they needed a proper check meaning a thorough check by the vet and not just the quick check that the vet does every time the go, and the guy said

"i think thats ok but i'll just check if they need to go to an actual dentist"

My Vets have a Dental specialist who as worked on a few rabbits that belong to people I know with really good results

The vet I work for is a 'dental specialist', basically vets tend to have something they like to do and some will go on extra courses to get extra qualifications/improve their skills. Its worth just ringing round and asking if any vets at the practices have done any continuing development courses in dentistry as its quite often underadvertised!

Mine are dental checked by the vet nurse, it's free and she checks all their teeth, back and front, she knows what she's looking for and what she's doing so assume she is trained to do it. The vet only tends to check their front teeth and doesn't use an instrument to look at the back ones properly.

our vets does a full check up.. heart and teeth etc like they do when our dog goes in for a booster, any teeth problems im sure would get spotted, i didnt see anywhere in petplans small print saying teeth have to be checked by a rabbit denist :shock: the sneaky *******!!

I think that as long as they get all of their teeth checked with one of those instrument things and its on their record as being done then you should be fine.
