  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hairy poo

Roxy is moulting for England and this morning I found three poos strung together with fur. I know some people give bunnies certain foods to help break this up is it pinapple tablets?

Just a bit worried as it was around this time last year that she was really ill and had bloat :(

Hi some people think pineapple juice helps..others don't:?

the best way to help her is to brush her well twice a day..or more if able and give her lots to do..some new boxes to explore..things to eat etc..

Vac the carpets often too...sorry but it's the only way to cut down on the hair available to her! ..and it protects Barney too if he grooms her...

fresh pineapple/fresh pineapple juice or papaya tablets.

sooz told me that hairballs are a secondary symptom of tummy trouble so not to worry too much about hair in poo it means they are digesting it. its actually bad if there isnt hair in poo!

to reduce the amount of hair you could comb her to pull out the excess hair yourself so that she doesnt swallow as much

edit: just realised it was a girl bun so changed the prefixes!
