Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

How much is microchipping?

Hiya

I was wondering how much it costs to get two buns microchipped. I want them done before they go into boarding for their summer hols just in case the worse happens.

I think it cost me £23 per bun; then there's an optional £7 or so you pay to petlog so that you can update your details at any time for free & get a few other benefits too.

I just decided to get mine chipped for the same reason, but forgot to ask the cost when I booked them in at the vets today  I'd been thinking about it since I got them anyway, but was put off by stories that vets/rspca dont bother to check them anyway.

I think if they did go missing or whatever then at least you *can* prove it's your bun by having them check whether it's chipped or not.

Yes, that was one of the things that crossed my mind when I decided to put them into boarding. I'm sure it would never ever happen, but its peace of mind for me at the end of the day. not sure the buns in question will agree next week when they are on the wrong end of two needles - chipping & myxi

Surprisingly being microchipped didn't bother Lucifer or Nyx, and I don't expect it to bother Azrael either.

I also have the added "bonus" of having weird neighbours & I wouldn't put it past her to take my bunnies:censored:

Mine is £20 I think but get a £5 discount if you do it same time as a vaccination. My boy was done a while ago, my girl is being done next week. I think its worth it :)

Im going to get mine done too, just because if sum1 (my ex:censored:) stole them, i wudnt be able to prove they were mine!

Well my buns were the novelty at the vets on Tues night - they dont get many in for chipping. Two buns, two myxi jabs and two chips later = £76

I liked the vet though - he said he thought rabbits were overlooked and were more intelligent than most people thought. :D
