  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit Insurance

I have 5 rabbits and after a weekend of vet trips with my hamster i'm thinking rabbit insurance might be a very good idea. I can't seem to do an online quote anwhere to see how much i'd be paying a month for 5 rabbits does anyone happen to know if you get a discount or is it about £10 per rabbit?
Also who do you all use?
Have any of you had any problems with them not paying out etc?

You do get a multipet discout. The price depends on your area, age and breed. The best thing to do is ring a couple of companies and get quotes from them. You can sometimes get better discounts that way too.

I pay about £14 per rabbit - Petplan. Try and get a voucher from your vet, then you get the first month free. I haven't had anything paid out yet though... helen

I'm with petplan; they do a "multi-pet" discount & it's about £9/month for Lucifer and then £8/month each for Nyx & Azrael, all are under 1 year. I think they're still doing their "months" free thing as well...
