  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Quick question I am going to collect Thumper in a bit from his neuter - I have scrubbed his cage down - can I put hay down or will that be tough on his wound?

Pop some hay in a rack, so he can reach it but it's not on the floor. It will irritate his wound. I popped mine on vet bed and old sheets when they've had their ops.

I have never had a problem with Bucks going straight on to soft hay bedding after neutering. The wound should be miniscule.
If you are worried use a towel as bedding and stuff some hay for him to eat into a cardboard inner tube from a kitchen roll or loo roll. That will minimise how much hay he sits on.

Janex :)

hi all he is back from the vets looking v v sad, he is a house rabbit should I keep him in his cage for tonight? he wants to come out, he will only sit under the table - the only thing I was concerned about was him not eating - as he wil be chilling and also knocking his wound hopping in and out of his cage

I am always curious about things so I had a little look at bunny and his parts and took a pic
