  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Harry not himself this afternoon.

Harry was fine this morning check on bunnies before going to work. Check again soon as I came back. Harry just is not his normal self, have put in his food and has just turned his nose up. Does not seem to want to be moving around to much, felt his tummy and it seems ok.He just happy to lay in one spot. I have just given him a hot water bottle to keep him warm, but the shed is heated anyway. Any advice please. Am keeping a close eye on him.

Has he poo'd the normal amount today?
Do you know when he *definately* last ate?
If it was not since last night then he needs to see a Vet this evening.

Thank you Jane.
Not to sure about the answers to your question as he lives with his cage mate so not to sure on the amount of poos. Also with his food, I feed both in the morning so again not to sure how much he has eaten.
But on a positive note, I brought him in tonight to keep a eye on him. I have given him fluids mixed with bio-Laps (50mls) which he has had most of that now and have syringe CC. He is looking much brighter and has started to eat a little and drink.I will be keeping a eye on him during the night and hoping he continues to get better. As I am typing he has just started to eat some hay.:D
Thanks again Jane. Its nice to know your not faraway.

Harry is much better today seems to be back to his normal self, although looks as if he's been out on the town all night. A little like me, as I was up through the night every 2 to 3 hours to check and syringe feed. All very much worth it in the end.

Glad he's feeling better. It's scary when they're off colour isn't it? Tarquin was like this a couple of Sundays ago and after syringing some Science Recovery into him, giving him Infacol and tummy rubs, and making him run around, he came round after a couple of hours. A very stressful few hours.
