hi,i know a woman who breeds french lops.anyway, she had a litter of 12wk old babies and a woman came and sexed one she wanted.a gorgeous black otter buck.anyway, she put him back in his cage n went cuz she wated a doe.owner went check them later n this little chap cannot move his back legs.took him the vets, gave him anti inflammitories n tey think he has damage to his spine.he doesnt know if it was from bein rough handled when sexed or if his litter mates did it.vet said to put him sleep but she doesnt want to do this because he seems ok in his self, eats, drinks and plays in his own way.wat i want know is wat are the chances of him regaining mobility in his back legs?he has very slight movement but not alot.vet didnt do x rays.is their anything else she could try?i speak to her now and again so any advice would be gladly appreciatted.

Get xrays done. Ask to be referred to a specialist if the vet doesn't really know.
If there is some feeling there I would want further investigation immediately to see what is causing the paralysis as the longer its left untreated the less chance of a good outcome.

Can you get as much information as possible on him please? Does he still have sensation in his legs - ie, can you pinch them and he responds? Can he still pull his toes apart?
Please don't let the vet pts if he is bright and happy within himself :( He sounds adorable - and disabled buns can live a happy life if cared for properly.

I would willingly take him if needs be:D

Until he is taken to the vet he needs to be kept on his own in a confined area to minimise his movement and prevent further damage to his spine.

X-Rays would certainly be my next port of call.

ill ring her tomorrow n ask her about the movement thing.abit late now.she said shed never have him put sleep unless he was realy distressed.never seen a black otter frenchie before.he is in an indoor cage on vetbed on his own.said he pulls himself over to you for a love.xx

Kim, Jaypot is experienced with disabled bunnies. Let us know if your friend wants him rehomed.
