  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Well last night her eye started to get bad again so we took her to the vets today and she is on drops again. The vet changed her mind about tearduct thing for some reason :?
But the fact is she has never been ill before and i think it is really taking it out on her tbh, She is 7 now so getting worried really xx

I have a little x dwarf who seems to have an intermittently weepy eye. The first time it got really bad (ironically AFTER we started treating him with drops etc) and he had it flushed out a couple of times and antibiotics etc. That time he lost weight - but I'm not sure if it was the eye or the stress of being caught and fiddled with all the time.

Since then he has had a weepy bit a couple of times but each time it has cleared up of its own accord - and seems to perhaps be related to cold at nights or rain or generally 'under the weather' type of things - so we don't want to stress him by embarking on a huge treatment programme again. He's about 8 now (rescue so not quite sure but we've had him 7 years).

Not sure how this info might help you - but thought I'd share it anyway!
