  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

urgent help please

oooh dear - I wonder if he could have got a wasp sting in his mouth or something like that? I had a huge wasp in my house last week - they are waking up on warm days.

Oh dear! I don't know what could have caused that but if he is having trouble breathing I would get him to a vet asap. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Please take him to a Vet straight away.

He could have an acute pneumonia or a multitude of other conditions.
But a Rabbit in respiratory distress is a Rabbit whose life is at risk and I think getting him to a Vet *now* is better than waiting for people on here to guess what may be wrong

Good luck and please keep us posted

just to say Rex died in our arms before we could get him to the emergency vet we are absolutely devastated he was such a very special bun. I know many of you have lost your buns and know what we are going through now. Its very hard to take at the minute.
