  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Head Twitch

Is a head twich in a bun bad or nothing?

I've noticed Jack has a slight twitch from time to time - He's absoutley great in his self and is binkying around the place!

What do you mean by a "twitch"?? Does it proceed him jumping and binkying?? Ours all do little head flicks before they run like nutters!

Is it when he's excited? Scamp often flicks his head/ears when he gets over excited like a mini binky. If it's during normal activity like washing/sitting then I'd get the vet to check his ears :)

I'm not too sure - kinda both!

Well I'm gettin him vaccinated nxt week I'll get him to have a look at his ears.

Thanks Guys

Jack is insane and highly excitable, he never sits still

On a slightly more disturbing note what do his ears smell like? You can usually smell a canker problem before you see it.

They should smell sweet. Canker is another words for ear mites, its easily fixed but goven his normal behaviour I dont think he has a problem.

I will certainly give his ears a smell later! but he seems fantastic in himself

I'm taking him to the vets next week for his first vaccination so I will get his ears checked!

There so happy together was sat watching them this morning and they were just lay together licking each other! Aww!
