Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Bernie is now sneezing, U/D: he has snuffles

Happy Hopping

Wise Old Thumper
Okay, here's an update, on last Fri. and Sat., when I take Bernie to do the teeth removal, the temperature over here is around -20 C on Fri., and - 20 C on Sat. To protect Bernie, he was put in a "Cozy pet carrier", like a luggage case, and on the outside, from the walking distance of the back entrance to my garage and from the walking distance from my car to the vet's hospital door, his carrier is covered w/ a heavy jacket that I used to wear, and it cover pretty much the entire carrier.

Now, it's now clear that he catch a cold or just sneezing. There is a bit of white stuff on his nose, as I clean it, there is an odor out of the cotton swab. He has always been isolated in his room indoor since he came back 2 days ago.

My appt. w/ the rabbit savvy specialist is tomorrow at 12:30 pm. My question is, did he just catch some wind? Because there is no bunny bacteria in his room or in this house. If he just catch some wind due to the cold weather, what's the treatment? Is it just Anti-biotics?

And more importantly, what are the things I have to watch for to make sure the sneezing doesn't pass along to the other rabbit thru me? i.e., can my clothes catch something from Bernie, and when I do my daily feeding w/ Goofball, somehow pass on to him?

I need your input as to what's happening w/ Bernie. I went back to see the vet on Sun. Bernie has snuffle. Now his amt. of white puss has dropped, but his diet is very inconsistent:

1) last Mon -- only eat a few carrot leaf, the rest is force feed

2) Tues -- eat a few spinach leaf as treat

3) Wed: ate 1/2 a carrot, a few spinach leaf

4) Thurs: no carrot

5) Fri: ate 1/2 a carrot, a few spinach leaf

6) Sat. ate some pellets

7) Sun. ate a lot of pellets

but today, he didn't touch any of the pellets, nor the carrot

So, there is quite a flunctation on his diet, up and down, and I don't understand why. The vet said as long as his puss is dropping, continue give him the enrofluxin

The snuffle occur on his left nose, the day after 2 molars are removed from his upper side

any take on his diet wild swing?

Sorry, probably not going to be of much help but my bun has snuffles too however, his snuffles is not teeth related and his appetite has never wavered really, he's always had a healthy appetite. Does he eat plenty of hay??

As far as I know, I don't think you can pass snuffles on via your clothes. I was told that the thinking was that if other buns had a mature enough immunity, the chances were they wouldn't contract snuffles from another bun. I think that a fairly long course of anti B's is usually recommended.

Hope someone more knowlegable comes along soon to help.
