  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does anyone else use........

Snowy

Wise Old Thumper
Glucosamine for their elderly bunnies or for their bunnies that have stiff or poorly legs?

Wondering if you found it as good as we have?

I have done in the past (glucosamine/chondritin), but can't say I noticed any improvement. The bunny did have other health issues though.

My Winston is starting to get stiff in his joints (I'm unsure of his age, probably 11 years), so I might start using it for him.

What brand did you use?

I have been using Glucosomine now for about 10 days on Harvey, Harriet, Mack, Mabel and Rupert and I have got to say that the difference is amazing.

Harvey and Harriet are running around like 2 year olds, Harvey was very wobbly on his legs but not anymore and Harriet who lost the use of her back leg last November and has been constantly wet with urine where she was lop sided is now as dry as a bone and can use both legs to the full.

Mabel, who was losing a bit of weight and not wanting to move much is now back to out running Mack to get to the food, Mack was OK but seems a lot brighter

Rupert seems to have a new lease of life and is running around the garden and now taking interest in his surroundings.

Of course, I understand that this could be coincidence but not with 5 of them

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had the same or similar results in their elderly bunnies

I've given Glucosomine to our Snowball for a couple of years now, I started giving it to her when her legs started to splay, I'm pretty sure it's helped her even though now her legs are an awful mess  , but she's happy and pain-free and pings about all over the place (in her flapping seal-like way  )

Thanks for the link. Do you give the animal one or the human one?

I'm very interested because I'm having mobility issues with Inky at the moment, £20 would be a small price to pay to getting him hopping on all 4s again.

The animal one, I have found it very good and as you say £20 is nothing!!
