Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Slipper's munching Mr Bunnies back!

JP

New Kit
Mr Bunnie has a little sore onhis back created by Slipper (his girlfriend bunnie) licking it until a sore was formed and she won't leave it alone. Does anyone know of anything we can put on it that's safe but doesn't taste good so she won't like it and it heals.

You could try olbas oil or vicks vapour rub.

First however I would trim the fur away and covering it over with a bandage/plaster so she cannot antagonise it further and so that the vicks/olbas is not in diorect contact with the broken skin.

Do they have plenty of chew toys and hay to play with and eat?

Has Slipper had a dental check recently?

yes they have loads of hay and chew toys. Slipper did go to vet recently with eye infection and vet checked teeth then and said they're not too bad. she's had some really good eye drops that've cleared up her eye really well. she seems obsessed with licking this part of his back into a sore. I'll try the Olbas oil though sounds like a good idea. Thanks. will feedback results.
