red around eyes?

Young Bun
hello,
I'm looking after two rabbits which are two months old, dwarf mixes. They eat well and are energetic running and playing often. I have noticed the lining around the eye seems to be slightly red, the eye itself is not red at all, it's white as usual with the brown eye part also. They both have this red around the lining, so I am thinking it is genetic maybe something part of their breed? I hope it is normal. Does anybody have experience with this? I am new to rabbits.

Thank you,
Ksiusha

Hi Ksiusha

Have you been looking after the buns for a while or are they new to you? Do you remember whether the linings were this red a few days ago or is it somthing that has developed?

I think that if the redness is new, you should take them to a vet as sore eyes could be quite painful for them. It could be that they're allergic to their hay/wood shavings/litter or a sign of something that could be treated.

I think the only way you can really find out if the redness is a problem is to ask a vet :)

I've had the bunnies now for a week, they're had this redness this whole time. Before that they were in a shelter connected to a vet, so I suppose if they were not worried by it it may not be a big problem. The lining around the eye is reddish, but the eye does not appear soar. Is this paticular with any breeds?

I have no way to put a picture:cry:

There is no discharge, they is no watering also. Their eyes seem fine, the eye ball appears completely normal, just the part around the eye, sorry I don't know the word for this but the lining appears red. It seems less red today. I will keep an eye on it.
