  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is it sore hocks?

Frosty seems to be washing his hind feet a lot lately and one paw is a bit wet. He has very dense fur on his feet and so this could just be retaining water/saliva where he usually washes them.

However, when we try to check to see if anything is wrong he is bit sensitive on one paw.

Could this be the first signs of sore hocks? Is it worth going to the vets to get it checked out?

If it is I guess it could be where he has been standing in some water or wee or such as he seems to be fascinated with such wet things (despite us trying to remove such wet things....).

Does anyone use Megazorb for rabbits? Is it safe?

We use Megazorb, is safe but suppose depends on if the buns eat it as obviously won't be good if they eat a lot of it! Our bun does not eat it! It's very good, doesn't smell much unless you shove your nose in it, and for £8.25 about every month and a half it a bargain! Especially as we clean her litter tray everyday!
