hubby has nearly finished the new shed and run and i am visiting another rescue centre tomorrow. i am hoping to find a friend for my french lop boy Pixie, who lost his brother under GA 2 weeks ago:cry: - we visited a rescue centre a few days ago but there were no larger buns available at the mo.
anyway, fingers crossed for tomorrow but the real reason for the thread is that i want to plant a climbing plant at the side of the rabbit shed to grow up and over it. i have found that the sheds get really hot in the summer so a plant growing up and over the roof should help a little. any ideas on a suitable plant that is obviously not poisonous to the buns as the leaves would prob fall into the run at the side of the shed.

A climbing rose is a safe option as the rabbits love roses and they're safe to be eaten.
You'd need to put netting around the bottom so they can't scoff it all though!

I had heard that honeysuckle was NOT safe for rabbits and was about to dig my new plant up.
Could anyone clarify this for me please? ( I only put it in cos I thought it was OK then heard it wasn't)

Rose bushes are definitely OK for rabbits as I've had roses and rabbits in the garden for 20yrs with no probs.
(other than you only get flowers 3ft up! lol)- Sue

climbing fruit bushes are another idea. cover the shed in raspberries, blackberries or grape vines.

Climbing roses and passion flowers are fine, I would go for the rose though (a nice old fashioned one) as they are less likely to decimate it

oh dear i'd heard it was safe and it wasnt on my toxic list, but it does look like the berries are poisonous. Maybe i should have suggested henbane or posion nightshade!

Roses should be lovely. Grape vines are definitely ok as well if it's warm enough where you live.

 and thanks so much for the answers. i live on the coast of north cornwall which can get very windy and cold - passion flowers are out as i've had them in the past and they just die! i think i might have a chat to the nice bloke at the garden centre to see if a grape vine would survive and perhaps have a grape vine one side and a climbing rose the other. i will see if he knows of any other plant that would be safe for the buns and let you all know. thanks again for replying. x
