  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

She does a bit doesn't she? Do you think Metacam is the bunny equivalent of Pethadine????

It's like a re-enactment of Tuesday night/Wed morning..Floss is eating, pooing etc normally and she raced Bournville to their pellets just now, but I'm not jumping the gun this time..I'll be giving her the Maxolon 3x today so wish me luck...I'll have to syringe her single-handedly as Rog left for work early this morning!! Here goes..I may be some time......

YAY:D:D I managed it!! She was a bit grunty, but I pinned her against me with her head wedged against my elbow. About 10 secs and it was all done and dusted. Off to have my breakfast now...

I've discovered that she is happy to take the maxolon on a treat. She has only 1ml so I put .5 on 2 bits of a mini shreddie and it's gone in an instant. She doesn't seem to need metacam and I stopped that yesterday. She's to have the Maxolon twice today and tomorrow and then we're done, as her daily Baytril finishes tomorrow as well.:lol:
...We put up a barricade which gives them free access between the bathroom and kitchen via a part of the hall, but they're just not interested:roll:...they seem content just to laze around in the bathroom:roll:
