  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

So Scared - Possible broken foot (Update - broken toe)

I'm so scared at the moment:cry::cry:. My poor Twinkle bun hasn't improved and is still hopping around on three legs. I'm going to go straight to the vets when it opens. I feel so bad I didn't get the vet out straight away yesterday, but the emergency vet said she'd be Ok to be seen today. She's so annoyed at being confined, all she wants to do is hop round like normal.

I think she has a broken foot. I don't care about the cost, but I'm just so scared about whats going to happen. I have no experience of caring for buns with broken bits, especially as I have to take her campanion-bun's needs into account to.

I feel like such a bad mummy:cry:

Don't feel bad, your doing all you can. I hope the Vets can ease your mind and that Twinkle improves soon. sending lots of get well vibes

Thanks, sorry was getting a little crazy.

I've just come back from the vets. She has broken a metatarsal bone, like the footballers.

They have just advised lots of rest and to let it heal naturally. They did say that they can pin it, but they can't garentee that it would work. I don't fancy putting her through orthopedic surgery, if it isn't completly nessessary and may not work

We have just been given a week of rymidyl (something like that) for the pain. The lovely vet taught me how to do the jabs, so hopefully we are now set for a good recovery.

Anyone got any advise about broken feet??????
