  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Neutering costs?

It all depends on the vets, sometimes pain relief will be included in the price, othertimes its added. Best thing to do is phone up your vets and ask for a braeak down in the pricing :)

Dillion ended up being over £100 for his neuter, he was ill for a couple of days after, Honey's was £55 and Harleys was £60.

my vets charge £60 for a buck castration because they keep them in overnight for observation then give them a thorough check in the morning, id also check what kind of after care they offer, there were cheaper vets but the vets i have now are definetely worth the extra money :)

The vets I've just registered with are £52 for a spay all in, and £45 for a castration all in. Slightly more expensive than my previous vets but their vaccinations are cheaper plus they're more bunny savvy.

Mine was £28 for castration.. Crispins is currently at the vets now making a full recovery... 100lbs lighter.

But they said i will be payin abit more for pain relief.

But i doubt any of you wud travel up to hull to get this done lol

my vets charge £60 for males and £85 for females, they keep them overnight though and makesure they are fully recovered before you pick them up.

£32 for a castration, £45 I think for a girlie. I don't think there is much need to keep a buck in over night unless there have been complications or you are not able to be with them over the first day.

I thought it was much less stressful for my buck to stay over night, its a routine thing they do, makesure they are pooing ect, means he can be monitored all night so any complications are picked up straight away instead of when i checked on him in the morning. But then thats me (and im a nurse!) i was very impressed with the care.
