  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Trip to the vets

Frosty has to go to the vets for a hopefully quick dental tomorrow.

I was wondering though should Smudge go with him for company?

They have been together now for ages (well few weeks anyway) and I don't want them to end up fighting and having to rebond them.

Would taking Smudge just stress her out? She doesn't like going to the vets at the best of times and just taking her as standby feels a bit mean.

Hello, yes it is best to keep them together as it will disrupt the bond if they are apart too long. It will be a little distressing for Smudge if she doesn't like car journeys but they will both be happier together. Hope that helps and good luck at the vets :D

Absolutely Graeme:) Keeping them together will minimise the stress of the journey as well as the actual vet visit.:)

Hi Graeme

I agree with all of the above. In addition to the stress of the journey and the visit being lessened by having the bunnies together, a bunny coming home from the vets smelling different from when they went (lets face it vet's or atleast the pracitices don't smell nice), can sometimes cause some upset when the bunnies are put back together.

All of my bunnies go everywhere together.

Good luck.
