  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What's wrong with my bunny?

My rabbits live in the outhouse but they come in for a couple of hours at night. When Stella seems to be relaxing or sleeping, she make wheezing noises. I'm really worried - any ideas what this is? Bud doesnt do it.

she has just been to vets and had anesthetic - was doing this before, vet said he couldn't hear anything.

My mum asked 'can rabbits snore?'!!!! I hope so, would hate it to be something really bad - she is such an unlucky bunny!!

My bun, Alfred, has been wheezing lately too and my vet also said she couldn't hear it! Made me wonder if I was going crazy...

My vet thought maybe he was allergic to something or getting dust from his bedding in his nose so she had me change his bedding and make sure I air out his hay so it isn't dusty, nothing worked so we're still trying to figure out what's going on!

thanks Rachel - we're not alone!!!

Like i said - it only seems to be when she is just lying there and poss sleeping. She can run around for ages and I cant hear it!! I just hope she's ok. She's already had 4 ops the past year. She is such an unlucky bun. Let me know if you find out anything!!
