Most likely you will be syringe feeding for 2-3 days. I have a rescue booked for incisor removal, but when Im on holiday from work so I can provide him with intensive nurseing.

Offer his favourite foods, finely chopped or grated, pellets softened in warm water or mushed with a little fruit based baby food. Dont expect him to eat willingly for a while though and it could be a couple of weeks before he is back on solids.

Try offering him his normal pellet feed softened with cooled boiled water.
Gratted carrot/crumbled Broccolli head/finely sliced spring greens are often popular.

I would ask your Vet about some take-home pain relief to give the Bun who is having his Incisors removed as his mouth ( and 'bits' !!) will be sore and that will stop him wanting to eat.

hi - thanks for the great advice. i work from home, so i can give them both loads of time and after-care. i know the vet will probably advise me when i pick them up but i know i will get brilliant ideas from here! i will insist on pain-relief for pixie and get some baby food to mix with his pellets. its such a worry that they wont eat and i want to make it as easy as poss for them both. i will let you know how they, (and I!) get on. x x

Hello

You will probably find that your bun won't waNt to eat much at all at the beginning when you first get him home.

It may be worth putting some burgess excel junior pellets down for him which are very small and easier for him to eat. This is what I do with my bun and he will attempt to eat them when his mouth is sore. Also some finely chopped spring greens and a little bit of kale.

You will need to syringe feed your bun until he is eating normally again. You can buy oxbow critical care formula or Science recovery syringe feed or just mush some Science selective pellets with warm water. You can add some pureed veggies like spring greens to the mixture.

Hugs to your boys.
