I've just had Peanut done and she was roughly 4-5 months.
She was so absolutely fine.
Very interesting discussion! I'm looking forward to reading all the different answers and the argumentation :D
Some people say spaying before 6 months obstruct natural growth, but has there been research implying something else recently?
Some say rabbits preferably should be over 12 weeks because the genitals are more developed, but they can be done when over 1 kilo. Young rabbits cope better with sergery and anestishia. Some vets can spay 6 weeks old rabbits. Spaying young does require a healthy rabbit it's said.
I don't know what's right or wrong. Hopefully someone with one or more reliable sources can give a better answer. Or a link to previous discussion

I have had boys done when their testicles drop and girls when they start nesting, average age is about 16wks for girls 12wks for boys....but thats just my experience - your vet will know as it can vary from rabbit to rabbit.

although don't forget your vet may have different views. As long as she is a good weight she can be done at 4-5 months but some don't like to until they are 6 months.

gemma did your vet allow you to take both bunnies to the vets as they are bonded?I am ringing up my vet tomorrow to get Beatrix done and i am hoping that Norman who has already been done will be allowed to go with her.I hope so as i wouldnt want to split them up as they love each other

Right, I phoned around when Mimi was 4 months, and they were in no hurry. She was spayed at 6 months :)
