Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Getting bunny eating after Op - please help.

Hi,
My rabbit Toby has had spurs filed down today as well as his peg teeth, and his last remianing Incisor removed today.
He is drinking a bit and had very few bits to eat, he is still wobbly and very tired.
Can anyone suggest anything that I could try to give him, I'm trying all his favoourite things and making them smaller for him. He isn't a rabbit for eating fruit and veg.
I think he is still feeling really tired as he is drinking a little and took a piece of grain and dried banana off me, although I think he dropped the banana.
Hope you can help, thanks...

I would let him rest. The fact he has had a drink is good but dont get too stressed about him eating just yet.
Later tonight perhaps try making his usual pellet feed soft with some cooled boiled water.
Does he ever eat carrot? If so try gratting some for him.

Warmth and Water are what he needs right now.

you tempt your bun w/ his favorite treats, essentially on the first and second day after surgery, you let him eat anything he wants. If he doesn't eat the regular items, hays, pellets, etc., you let him for these 2 days. They don't go back to regular amt. of food intake after 1 or 2 days of surgery. In a few days, their diet will be back to normal
