I live in the US, in North Carolina, to be more specific. I have a mini-lop named Pilfer that is about 9 months old He has been neutered. He is adapting well to our home and was adopted in July. We love the little guy to pieces! We have purchased him a four story (actually a Ferret cage) home and he is loving going up and down the ramps. It took us a while to get everything where HE wanted it as he had to have his litter box in the same corner as he always had it in the first (smaller) home, and his hay, etc. all where HE wanted it. He is very particular about where everything goes in his home. When we first got him my husband built him a little wooden house to go into and he HATED it! He moved it all around and would sleep where it had been sitting until we finally removed the thing!

I have a question about his care. He has starting shedding very heavily. He is white with cinnamon spots so it is quite a problem as it gets on EVERYTHING! If I leave my coffee cup for a minute it has a bunny hair floating in it! We brush him, is there anything else we should be doing? We are still learning about his care. Also, do you think the papaya treats help with hairballs? I am ordering him some today. We also have a problem with urine on the blinds behind bunny's cage. This is high and far from the litter box, not like an accident, but like perhaps intentional spraying...? He uses the litter box faithfully, and is a good bunny so I feel there is some distinct purpose in his putting it there. Does he need a companion? If so which sex? Not sure I could take the hair of ANOTHER bunny.

He loves to be held and patted and we feel very fortunate to have discovered how wonderful of a pet a bunny makes!

hello and welcome to RU

i can only give you my experience as to the bun our male used to flick himself round and spray wee everywhereeven over his mate who just sat there blinking but he did stop about 3 months after being neutured. As for the friend situation i think all bunnies are better with companions, id get a female bun as a companion but thats only cause that's what we have and i think males can fight if theyre put together but i could be wrong. Miffy my female bun moults about 3 times a year and it gets everywhere but luckily hers is very thick fur so we find it in clumps rather than floating everywhere i cant really suggest anything other than grooming him daily sorry xx

Thanks, Nina. I will have to consider a mate for Pilfer.

I wonder how I can get my whole email address out of my name! I only put "Viv"!??

Oh, this time it only said "Viv" Great!

It has been about 3 months since his surgery maybe he will stop soon. It isn't often, now.

It has been exceptionally warm here and I am thinking that may be the reason for excess shedding. (70 today and it is usually cold this time of year here).

Yeah our buns shed a lot when the weather changed infact come to think of it Parsley's moulting at the minute but his fur is a lot finer, luckily i only really comes off when you groom him rather than floating round in the air. We do still get some territorial weeing and pooping when we move things round the ounge or if one of the cats decides to sleep in bunny territory but other than that we dont really have any problems with him, i remeber he used to hump a beanbag coz miffy wouldnt let him hump her and that lasted probably up until about 5 months ago and we've had him a yr lol

This is when we got him. Now he has a huge cage and he is huge! (For a mini lop he sure is big!) I will have to take more pictures! I wish the photo was larger!
