  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Millie's not very well

Noticed about 8pm she didn't run over for some pellets that I put down, so I tried a bit of spring green. She didn't even nibble that either which is so unlike her. I know she ate her pellets in the morning and seemed ok all day :?

She's had this before where she was off her food, we syringed a bit of water and gave her some Infacol with a tummy rub and she was ok after a bit.

Today, I've tried all that, a bit of juiced pineapple, warm water every hour and a bit more Infacol but she doesn't seem to be perking up and no poos yet. I've also been chasing her round a bit to try and get her active.

Anything else I can try :?

Hasn't she poo'd all day? If not she needs to go to a vet really as it might be gut stasis. Hope she perks up soon.

Yeah she's pooed earlier today. Forgot to mention, when I noticed she wasn't eating, I put her in the living room on her own so no poos since 8pm.

Just tried a trick I remembered seeing on here and put Toyah's litter tray in and Millie did 2 poos to mark her territory! They're only little poos but phew!

Oh right. I don't know I'm sorry. I always wimp out and take mine to the vets at the first sign of anything...the vets love me
Have you got a snuggle safe or something similar I know a warm tummy is supposed to help. Have you tried her favourite foods? That might tempt her into eating.

Aww thats brilliant! I'll remember that one. Brilliant. Keep an eye on her though x

Don't have a snugglesafe but she's right next to the radiator in the living room and surrounded by food!

She's just done a few more little poos, I'm so relieved. Yay for Toyah and her litter tray.

They do indeed! It was bizarre, as soon as I put the other tray in, it was like she just clicked out of it :? Strange.

Mavis is happy Millie is better, she's binkying round the room lol

I glad she's okay now :D that was a really good idea putting Toyah's litter tray in with her will have to remember that one.

So glad she's feeling better. How is she this morning?

She's completely fine, hopping around, trying to sneak out of the kitchen everytime I open the door as usual, chasing me for food!

Will take her to the vets tomorrow to get her checked over.

Thanks x
