Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Obi was off his food this morning and now i've left him at the vets!!!!

Obi really wasn't himself this morning, he wasn't interested in his food at all but later nibbled a bit. Because he is out of sorts i then took him to the vet.

After Obi was examined the vet could see that some of his back teeth were slightly over grown and he kept moving his mouth as though he was chewing but he didn't have anything in there.:?

I'm hoping it's his teeth, i'm so worried because i had to leave him there so that he could be sudated and his teeth checked more thoroughly:?:?

He seemed quite healthy up untill this morning and this is the first time that he hasn't been interested in his food, I'm hoping it's just his teeth!!
Healing vibes needed please!!!!

It's good you got him to the vet as soon as you noticed something wrong :)

Tooth grinding can mean you bunnie is in pain or his back teeth are over grown I believe. (I'm not certain though does anyone else know?)

But since you've got him to the vet so quickly I'm sure they'll be able to fix him up :D

Sending healing vibes.

Healing vibes being sent your way. Just out of interest, which vets do you use? I travel to haverfordwest to Fenton vets to see their exotics specialist Lance Jepson. He is very good with rabbit and rodent teeth and is very knowledgable and interested in rabbits in general.

Lots of (((vibes))) for Obi, Im sure a dental will sort him out in no time. He may also have been off his food if his mouth was ulcerated from the spurs rubbing against his cheek, which is of course very painful.

Make sure yo are given painrelief for him to take at home if your vet thinks this was the case as its important to get him easting again asap.

You may also want to have a look at his diet to see if there is anything you can alter which will promote better teeth wear to minimise his time between dentals.

Hi spider!! Obi saw Lance today, he's very drowsy at the moment. I'll keep a close eye on him tonight and try and tempt him with various bits. I am pleased with the care I receive from Lance just wish that he was there more often. He's only there on a tuesday and a friday morning so it can be difficult!! It was good luck that Obi was able to see him today!!

His teeth in actual fact weren't too bad, but needless to say at least we're doing everything possible to sort Obi out.

Thats great news for you and Obi :D I'm glad Obi got to see Lance as I don't think he could be in better hands in this area. I know what you mean about him not being there often. I live towards Lampeter in Ceredigion so its a bit of a way for me and I often have to take a day off work to make the trip. He's worth it though! My bun has glaucoma that Lance is treating and I have a degu that gets pre molar spurs that needing trimming so we see him from time to time!

I hope Obi can be tempted by some nice nibbles and feels himself soon. I look forward to hearing good news and am still sending good vibes.

Well done obi, keep it up!!!
