Hopper Haven took in 160 rabbits and rehomed 110 during 2007.
(And we took in 109 guinea pigs and rehomed 123.)

How about the rest of you?

Are the ones you didn't rehome left with you at year end?

Thats a fantastic result!

What happened to the remaining 50?

Are most of them still with you?

doorkeeper
02-01-2008, 11:55 PM
We have 136 rabbits at the moment:shock: More than 50 that arrived this year are still here as some of those rehomed in 2007 arrived in 2006.
Which of course is how we rehomed more guinea pigs than we took in.

We rehomed 129 rabbits and 34 guinea pigs :D

We took in 141 rabbits and 37 guineas...and 9 more gps were born in the rescue/at fosterers..so total 46!

Well done on your figure Louise..and the amount you have to care for:shock:

I'm after a piece of land too so we can extend..but so far all my tickets have been losers!:(

Poor Bunny's! I think you are all so fantastic what you do for these animals!

I think the Government or someone should bring in some rules and regualtions as to people breeding animals for cash purposes only without a thought for the animals! They should bring back animal licenses for all types of pet and breeders!

This is kind of a Happy and Sad thread really.

It's great that so many have found new homes, but sad that they needed new homes in the first place. But that doesn't detract from the great work the rescues are doing, I really didn't think that so many were rehomed in a year!

Well mines going to seem rubbish compared to your figures, well done guys :D, but I don't have a great deal of space and each bun takes it up for three weeks, while they have their neuter and stuff, that's my excuse :lol::lol::lol:

I've asked Tamsin for my stats as I only have a paper copy at home, so once I get them, I'll stick them up, but don't be expecting great things from me :lol:

Wow well done everyone I am amazed that people took in and rehomed so many. Also I always seem to be reading the rescues saying how slowly rehoming is going etc so to see that people have rehomed nearly as many animals as they have taken in is fantastic I would not have expected that :D

Tree as Snowey has said ..they all count....I think we have reached a plateau as our figures are unlikely to go much higher...due to the time taken in turn-around..neutering vacs etc as you have said.....and homechecking..I would find it difficult to fit in any more in a year..

Well done to everyone..when you think what woudl have happened to these animals if they hadn't been rescued...it makes them a lot of very lucky bunnies:D

kayj
03-01-2008, 02:58 PM
Tree, look how many you helped before you became a rescue:D You have always done a good job and no matter how many anybody does it all helps. It isn't a competition we all do it for the same reasons and evey bunny rehomed is a bonus as they get a second chance.

135 animals taken in.

141 left our care that's made up of 61 guinea pigs and 80 rabbits.

Just shows what a year does as last year we adopted out 2 more guinea pigs than we did rabbits. Although I think the fact we ran out of guineas for a chunk of the summer months maybe why it was a smaller amount this year.:)

Not including fosters, I took in 1 and rehomed 1...that makes four in total in the past two years!

i took in 3 buns and 2 adult pigs and 3 mini pigs. still got 2 buns and 2 adult pigs and the 3 minis. so that's rehomed a total of one bun and one pig. but i do only foster. :? x jess

So am I, everyone else topped 100 and I thought we had done so well!

You both rehomed more than I did my first year! I only rehomed 35 rabbits in 2006, then up to 110 in 2007. And for GPs it was 46 then up to 123. I now doubt it'll go any higher, in fact I'll be surprised if we rehome as many next year.

I just realised I missed 3 out of our intake, as sadly, they all died in foster care before reaching the rescue :cry::cry: so we actually took in 91.

honeybunny
05-01-2008, 12:56 PM
I've had to alter our figures as missed off the ones some fosterers have adopted!:lol:

donna-arc

Our figures were down this year compared to last:

Rabbits taken in 2007 190
2006 205

Guineas taken in 2007 64
2006 136

This is because not enough new homes were offered - we couldn't home the animals already in our care, so we couldn't take in any more.

With the dogs and cats we also homed our total intake this year was 490.

I must say to those who feel they didn't do much this year - it's not just a case of quantity it's quality too:
I feel very proud that we neuter and vaccinate all the animals we re-home,
I am extremely proud of our dedicated team of fosterers - I would be happy for my rabbits to live with any of them
and I know that they all get any vet care needed - money would never be a barrier to best care. All these things need to be considered too.

I agree Donna..we also vacs, neuter and homecheck..and have a strict non-pts policy...and like yourselves...Honeybunnies couldn't do what it does without our brilliant fosterers..:D

Will be nice to see the total of animals homed form the rescues who frequent this forum.....
