I'm taking Melanie and Prince to the vet tonight. Prince is a tiny (1.5kg) lionhead and Melanie is a 6 mth old giant (4kg+). Melanie is too big for a carrier.
How do you all take your giants to the vet?
I was considering a small dog crate that I have?

Probably a good option.
As far as carriers go you can get various size Atlas carriers. For a giant rabbit you'd be looking at an Atlas 40 or 50, but they don't come cheap! You can also get wheels for them lol
I'm sure someone else will come along with a god idea.

Well they were 7 months and 9 months when they came to me.... The rescues said .....
Amber at 6 months was about 4kg and Tim at 6 months was about 3kg
(He is smaller) There are pics on my thread of them in your stories and photos.

My carrier is from Argos and its not meant for rabbits, I only have two medium bunnies but they both fit in it and can lay down together (see pic).
I'm trying to get onto their site to send you a link because all the dimensions are on there, it was only £14.99. I think they do a bigger one with wheels too.

Aww bless her, I'm jealous I'd love a big house bunny. I'm trying to convince my bf that my two need to be housebunnies so we can spend more time with them, they were in last night, I penned them in for the night and then just as he wa dropping to sleep Charlie started banging around so they had to go back into their hutch (the heating was off)
Do you think larger breeds are more affectionate?

She jumps on me on the sofa!! It hurts like £$*&. My own fault because I sit with bare legs!!:oops:
When I move house I'll be in a bungalow so she'll be able to run in in the morning. :D

Melanie is my most affectionate rabbit - I think she thinks she a human baby!! I think generally the larger they are the more laid back they tend to be.

I dont know really, I think house buns are more affectionate (Amber has whole run of house) Because they are in all the time and you see them more. Also they meet family and friends when they visit.... They are always on the bed or sofa when you are sitting there so handled alot. Amber does thump alot and its loud! She is a very chilled rabbit...
I had an outside rabbit called Roger when younger and he as affectionate,

The roof terrace where they live is pretty much an extension of the living room, the wall that separates the two is all glass so its not like they are properly outside (does that make sense!) Its like a patio. They are in a lot and are affectionate, in summer I just open the patio doors, when its cold I bring them in but Charlie likes to go out and run around

I have a cat carrier that is big enough to take a giant and a small bunny. If I had to take two giants, I would have to put them in a small dog crate.

we have a pet carrier off ebay but sadly they dont sell them anymore:(
ours is like a cat carrier but made of materials mesh and tubalar metal..it goes onto a frame with wheels like a childs pushchair and it can be lifted off to put direct onto the vets table.
however willow fills it up on her own..we used to fit willow and bertie and bif in it for jabs etc..not anymore!!
i have to get a taxi to the vets or id get a pet stroller that folds up...
the states have kittywalk strollers lucky them. you can get double decker nes!

this ebay shop has two types of stroller but both cannot be used as a carrier...
the weight of pet is up to 30lb..any use? you could pur bunny in a carrier usually and struggle or swap to the stroler so you odnt end up with a knackered back!

OMG i thought taking 2 baby french lops in seperate carriers would be easier, i was so wrong!! Zola wont sit still so i end up nearly dropping the carrier every time he shifts from one end to the other. i think i need a huge carrier for them both to go into and a crane to help lift them.
Zola weighs 4.9kg and Wispa who is 2 months younger weighs 2.4kg :shock:
