  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Liquorice has his myxi jab today....he had his last one in June. Am i right he dosnt need VHD jab until June? He had an awful reaction to it last time.

I hate taking him to vets - he hates it!!! I feel so guilty! I know its for his own good but i still feel bloody awful!!!

Myxi every 6 months and VHD once a year, so he's safe until June! Bless him! Give him a few dandelion leaves or herbs as a treat :D and a few extra nose rubs.

If he had a severe reaction to the VHD last time your vets may opt not to vaccinate him again, what happened to him?

huddled up - didnt want to move. Droppped poo's all over which is not like him. Then after about 24hrs developed a limp like he had broken his front leg - i was reallly worried!!!

Then next day it cleared up :?

But after reading posts on this forum it sounds a common reaction to the jab???

He is an indoor bun, but has a run outdoors when the weather is fine and we r at work (during day - not to live out there) - will VHD be necassary??

Yes the limp is a common reaction however some rabbits develope more serious reactions such as swelling and infection at the injection site and I think gut problems have also been known.

I would still recommed getting him done, which vaccine did your vet use last time?
