*Uncooked* Potato is toxic to Rabbits. Cooked is not but isn't really a suitable foodstuff for them as it has a high carbohydrate content. Cooked potato *peelings* are sometimes fed

Apple pips can block the exit from the stomach causing an obstruction/bloat and life threatening illness

Apple seeds also contain traces of arsenic and cyanide so really shouldn't be fed to buns (or humans!)

OOPS. I've eaten apple seeds all my life(and I'm very old!!) as I eat everything but the stalk, but I agree about not giving them to rabbits, although I thought it was mainly because of the arsenic traces that they were classed as a no-no for them. However "Apple pips can block the exit from the stomach causing an obstruction/bloat and life threatening illness" , thanks for that bit of added info Jane:). It's logical I suppose.

My dad always eats the pips too, hes ok :) Think humans would have to eat rather a lot of apples to see any ill effects!

Yep - and for people who eat fish I'm sure one portion of tuna or mackerel has far more heavy metal in it than a year's worth of apple seeds!

almost all tree seeds/stones have traces of cyanide & arsnic....I think it is to stop rot settting in before they have a chance to sprout. I don't think there is much in apple pips though, especially for human sized people.....rabbits though are much smaller & also their cut is much more efficient.....most pips probably pass straight through humans.....

A human would have to eat a whole tea cup full of apple pips to poison themselves, and have to chew each one to release the toxins!

A few years since I did biology at school, but if i remember correctly nature designed apples, and other fruit, to be eaten by animals seeds and all. The payback was that the animals couldn't digest the seeds, instead passing them far away from the tree where they could grow into another tree.

Anyway unless you want an apple tree in the hutch then ignore me, and avoid apples for your rabbits as advised by other posters!
