Dermot + A Brief Update on His Poorly Tum

Jack's-Jane

Wise Old Thumper
It is likely that Dermot has Pyloric Stenosis. This means his stomach cannot empty properly and he gets bouts of GI stasis/Bloat
At the moment he is on a very restricted diet of hay, water, a few SS pellets and a tiny portion of spring greens. He has not had a GI 'episode' for a couple of weeks but it is likely that they will happen again
He has lost a bit of weight as he is getting less food !! But he was a bit chubby before so he is not underweight.

Anyway, here he is

poor lamb :( at least you know what's wrong with him though - is there treatment for it?

good luck dermot x x

Well in theory surgery is possible. Human babies can have the problem and projectile vomiting is the main symptom. Humans can have surgery to correct the problem.
Buns cant Vomit so if the stomach cant empty into the small intestines then the Bun bloats up/obstructs and dies  Any surgery on the GI tract of Rabbits is *very* high risk and carries a poor prognosis  I dont know of any cases of surgical intervention in PS in a Bun.

He is such a gorgeous boy.....and he still looks VERY handsome in spite of all of his troubles. Fingers crossed that it is a long time before his next bout of stomach troubles.:(
