Getting Stewy a wife

Stewy my house bunny is neutered, hes about 5 yrs old and I have been thinking about getting him a wife, we're not sure how he would react as we are not sure if he has ever met any other buns in his life before, I was thinking about introducing Luna my female outdoor bunny to him in a neutral room indoors to see how he reacts. Luna lives outside with her neutered brother, so was going to use my bunny perfume to spray on her before she meets Stewy and after to prevent the scent of the two males being on her. What do u think?

I'm not sure doing this would help. Whether 2 buns bond is really to do with their temperament ... so he may get on with Luna and not another girl or vice versa. Also may cause probs with Luna's relationship with her brother husbunny :( Also, from your post it suggests Luna isn't spayed (Is she?) and it's best that BOTH bunnies are neutered if you're trying to forge a new bond.

If you're serious about getting a wife bun for Stewy then I recommend contacting your local rescue centre and seeing if you can take him there for a bunny date with a potential wife (who will already be neutered). It may just be love at first sight and all your problems will be solved!

Let us know how you get on!

I woudn't have thought it was a good idea personally.

The best thing would be to take Stewy 'speed dating' at a rescue and let him pick out his own girly bun.

That way you get help with bonding and know they are gping to get along before you take the girl home and get attached to her.

I wouldn't risk it. You may find that it would cause a fight between the two bonded rabbits.

Rescues regularly bond older rabbits that have been single a long time so there is no reason why Stewy can't have a wife. I agree having a chat with a rescue and introducing a rabbit would be a better way forward.

Thanks for your responses I wanted a baby bunny tho, so speed bonding isnt really an option, I ve got a dog so I wanted a rabbit from young so they would get used to her!

Why not? :? Rescues have babies too and if you're introducing a baby female to a neutered male you don't need to wait until she's neutered you can have that done later.

An out going young adult would probably be better option for getting used to a dog rather than a baby. You may even find a house rabbit that's used to living with dogs in a rescue if your not to fused about breed etc. as well.

All our rescues are socialised with my rabbit tolerant dog and cats before rehoming and we have 9 babies here at the moment :?
