Grooming Bunny?!

Another question, I'm abusing this forum today!

I need to groom my bunny, as his back end gets a little knotty and tufty. But when I groom him he nips me cos he doesn't like it.

Has anyone got any advice as to how I can stop him nipping me whilst I quickly comb the knots out?

Are you sure he's nipping and not grooming back? Rabbits can be a bit rough. Also rabbit will nip another rabbits bum to say 'get out my way' or 'this is my space' so you might be giving him confusing signals if your tugging on the fur around him bum.

Food distraction is good, try grooming at dinner time ;)

He was all hunched up and looking abit scared, so I think it was abit of a nip to say get away.

If that's how rabbits groom, it's not very nice!

I'll try distracting him with a carrot, but he's not easy to distract. He doesn't tend to fall for distractions.

Does he like you stoking him? You can do quite a bit of grooming with your hands :) I always find that the tuft lose fur comes out better if you just pull gently with your fingers. A slightly damp hand lifts lots of lose fur too.

Oh he loves being stroked from head to tail! That's why I thought he wouldn't mind being groomed with a comb but obviously doesn't!

I'll try that, I'll be sneeky and stroke him with one hand and untangle the tufts with the other hand!

Thanks! :D

you can get grooming mits/gloves, theses ae great if your bun hates grooming, because you just stroke him as you would normally but with mit/glove on:D
