  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I recently posted about one of my buns Taylor who went really skinny quickly.Well he is on panacur and has put on 4oz in 5 days making him 2lb 8oz. My vet said to dose Taylor and the other buns for 9 days but does anyone thing that the Taylor who was skinny should be on a longer course i.e. the 28 day course.

Also if anyone with duchies has a general weight for them could you let me no cause i really dont want to feed him up so he is too heavy:D

Caspian was 1.8kg but that was underweight and he needed to be 2kg minimum according to my vets.

If it's for worms, he shouldn't need a 28 day course. If it's for suspected E Cuniculi, it should be for at least 28 days - more like 6 weeks.

he didnt have an answer for why he suddenly lost weight but is putting it on now so poss could have been worms

Sounds that way to me. Unless EC was mentioned, I'm assuming worms. Might be worth checking with the vet though.

Just weighed Taylor again and he is down 1oz on yesterday but have only fed him seperately once today instead of twice(had usual feed with the other 2)so think gonna keep feeding him 2 seperate times away from the other 2 until the weekend and see if he puts any on
