  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxi Warning - Bristol area

We're still getting some midgies by us, despite it being :censored: freezing!!... find a few in the bathroom (not really sure how they are getting in but only takes one opening of the door really). I swot them dead  Maybe a bit bad I know but they arent getting to my buns!!!!!!!!!!!!
All vaccinated tho so phew-ish.
Really hope no one experiences this!!!!

It's always bad here in Bristol. My sister and I lost two bunnies to it a few years back. My vet insists on vacinating every six months and even then when I took Bluebell in the vet told me he had at least six bunnies on his books with it. After our ordeal I wrote an article in my local paper warning peple to vacinate but unfortunately I guess a lot of people still don't.

arrrgrghhh nooooooooooo   :censored: :censored:

i think i'm going to spray my bunnies again with fly repellant.

did you say six monthly?? mine are due for annual vaccinations in February - should I get it done early?

My vet insists on myxi every six months because it's a real problem in my area and they see so many cases of it. Ask your vets advice, some places don't get it so bad.
