What is Panuar?

Hi
Everyone's been saying about the paste, Panuar for worming. I was wondering how often you have to do it, how long you have to do it for at a time, and if it's really necessary? Do rabbits take the paste easily, or do you should of have to wrestle them to the ground to give it to them?

 do all rabbits need treating with this? My vet has never mentioned this to me. I've had Splodge for nearly a year, and Scrumpie for a few months. Should I put them on a course of this?!

My personal advice would be yes....rabbits can carry Encephalitozoon Cuniculi and never show any symptoms, can develop them suddenly or can pass them onto other rabbits who may go on to suffer from it.

I treat mine every 6 months after Ra actually had worms in his poo:shock:
Now I do it as a precaution as they all graze in the same garden.

Most of mine took it quite easily either on a small piece of bananna or a cranberry. Only the giants had to have it put in their mouths by syringe - that was great fun I can tell ya!

On average it only costs around £4 per bun twice a year, so a worthwile investment if it helps against EC.:D

Don't get it from your vet though (unless reasonably priced). Get it online at http://www.wormers.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh...&PN=Rabbits___Furry_Pets.html#aPAN052#aPAN052

Mine hated the stff...

my vet recommended we worm them the first time i saw him. i will be doing it every 6 months x

My Noah had to be treated for EC in January and responded really well. I'd deffo recomend it as a preventative. It's so cheap and keeps what could be a really nasty affliction at bay.

good question drpengie... I am about to treat my buns fully following the loss of my poppy bun to ec...

i am also wondering what treatment dose is required twice yearly to keep the buns safe?

Does anyone want to go in with me on an order of this - minimum order is 3 tubes, and I don't think I'll need so much for 2 buns. Obviously better if this was someone local!

I'd go ahead and get all 3. I've just checked on the tubes I got last week and the expiry date is 11/09:)

Thanks! How much do I need of it as the minimum order is £8.50 and I'd have to buy 3 tubes - don't want to get loads if it won't get used it may go out of date, or I could buy it off the site that Jane suggested. don't know if there is a minimum order on there?
