A friend has kindly donated some packets of vegetable and fruit seeds to me... however, I wasn't expecting the box to be so big! So if you would like some seeds, I will be selling them off to raise money for Rabbit and Guinea Pig Welfare (RNGP) in Rugby.

All packets are in code (expire end 2008 ), and start at RRP: 99p, the most expensive packet i've found so far is about RRP: £3.

You can select the exact veg you want (I really do think I have everything!) with the following prices:

All packets 50p except runner beans
Runner bean packets all £1

Or you can have a lucky dip:

Rabbit safe seed packet lucky dip (grow some veg for your buns!):
5 packets £2
15 packets £5

General lucky dip
10 packets £3
20 packets £5 thats 25p per packet!

Postage 50p

Payment by Internet transfer, cheque, cash to HSBC branch.

I will take:

General lucky dip
10 packets £3

Please pm me an address to post a cheque to and how much for postage.
Can't remember if youv'e stated who the cheque should be payable to?

What veggies have you got?

Pretty much everything.... that you can get in seed form, and lots of runner beans too....

It's probably easier if you list the veggies you would like checked, and i'll go have a riffle through the box and can list the varieties i've got

For reference, I have only put vegetables, and herbs as listed on these sites in to the rabbit safe lucky dip:

http://www.rabbitwelfare.co.uk/rwf/articles/safefoods.htm

http://www.adoptarabbit.com/articles/packet/abcvegi.html

If anyone disagrees with the 'safeness' of any on their list please say so on here, and i will remove them from the rabbit safe lucky dip.

Thanks!

I think your 'Tuesday special' was red carrots (!) so all the loose ones will be those... i'll have to check the other nibbled packets now and see if they have escaped... Norty bun...!

If you think you haven't got enough garden - i've still got hundreds of packets - If I don't get rid of more of them, i'm going to have to put raised beds on the roof at this rate!

Anna just a thought, I don't know about other people but I tend to get seeds and then forget to plant them at the right time.

So how about some sort of reminder, like it's January you can start these seeds.... February start these..... etc or is that going to make loads of work for you.:)

Just trying to think of ways to shift some more for you before Tuesday eats any more.:)

Er.... I think you may be overestimating my skills as a gardener... My portfolio over the last two years was lots and lots of peas (I blame my Grand da for my love of peas straight out of the pod - and the supermarket ones just don't cut the mustard), potatoes (2006: great, 2007: blight tastic - although they were pretty water logged), and onions from sets.... and that's it! (ok, maybe the odd lettuce plant that bolted too)
My friend (who donated the seeds) used to own a garden centre, and saw a post (on a different forum) last year about my pea plants so that's how i ended up with them all! To say it's overkilled is an understatement, but it was very nice and generous of him to give them to me for free!

If someone else is a veg whizz, then please post away!

I've got my work cut out turning the veg plot into a raised bed area- well that's the plan anyway... if I ever get round to it

The seeds are now well away from the furry garbage bin (AKA Tuesday)... I broke rule number 1 (anything left on the lounge floor is fair game for rabbit chewing) which was why some of them round the edges got gobbled, so my bad!... Anyone sell rabbit muzzles?   (i'm kidding!)

It depends on if you have internet or phone banking set up with your bank. If you do, then I can give you my sort code and account number, and you can phone or log in to your bank online and send a payment that way. You could also pay cash or a cheque in at an HSBC branch with my acc no and sort code too if that's easier.

I dont have much garden to dig up and grow veggies.. but what herbs or edible flowery plants do you have? Can you plant them all just in the ground or do you have to have tubs? Im really rubbish at gardening too... planted loads of seeds last year but didnt put what they were so no idea what grew and what didnt... They loved eating the Nasturtiums though

Glad to hear they arrived ok!

Dideen - i'm not sure it there are any more strawberries - i'll have a look in the box tonight - i'm sure there is some chamomile and some herbs kicking about.
Growing in tubs is fine - in fact for carrots it's the best idea as it helps to prevent carrot fly. Even potatoes can be grown in tubs - all you need to do is make sure you give each plant enough room and then look after them.

If you want a really random mix again, i can opens some packets and mix them up in a new bag ;)

The chamomile, dill and chives are the only herbs left (i did manage to shift a lot of herbs at work), but still loads of veg left. Definitely carrots and radishes left and possibly chicory and beetroot - i'd have to check!
No more fruits either i'm afraid (tomatoes are a veg aren't they?)

halon
01-02-2008, 09:05 PM
I'll take them all if you have them.

Tomatoes are technically a fruit but generally considered to be a salad vegetable. But I know that I'd never be able to grow them. Actually i rather suspect none of the seeds will grow - I've had two pots of earth sitting on my windowsill for a couple of weeks,,, and may have to admit that there's nothing coming up. I'm not very green fingered unfortunately.

How do I pay you - do you have paypal?

Oh- get your order in. There is no time limit as such, but i've already started to run out of the stuff that I have least packets of, so the longer you leave it the more likely it will be that they might have run out - I do have a good handful of runner bean packets at the moment :) If you do a General mix of 10 packs, plus £1 p&p, i'll make sure a couple of packs of beans are in there for you  (as long as i have some left!)
