Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

mushy soft poo

kelzuna

Warren Scout
noticed this morning Liquorice has left some soft mushy poo around his litter tray...2 or 3...not same shape as normal hard poo.

Any ideas why this could be?

Diet hasnt changed....has constant access to timothy hay

more like a longish tube of poo???? bout 1cm???

Is this bad???? im worried...we are moving house 2mro...could it be stress?

I wouldn't worry about it, they are quite common. Usually bunnies eat them but Ziggy doesn't always eat his, and I've never worried about it. He's still fit and healthy. He usually does poos like that more in the summertime than winter for some reason, or at least that's when he doesn't eat them as much. As long as they are "formed" poos and not (what I call) "splats", then you shouldn't worry.

They sound like cetrophes to me... although I can never spell it! Rabbits re-ingest extra protein to make sure they get enough of it. Usually you don't see these poos because they eat them straight from their bums

They have quite a strong smell and are like a squishy bunch of grapes. If you ever see any just remove them so they don't get stuck in his fur. If he's eaten more than usual this can cause them, or a diet too rich in protein, but it's quite common for them to leave the odd one. Although they are usually longer than 1cm, sounds like he ate some of it but left the rest!

Don't worry! :D

If they are not eating all their caecotrophes it is best to cut down the dried food part of their diet slightly which hopefully will encourage them to eat more hay.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it but it doesn't sound so much like cecals to me. Cecals are not only like grapes they are quite shiny when first produced. If they are more like normal poops but elongated and very soft then I think you might be right about the stress. But unless they are "splats" then I shouldn't worry about it. Should settle when the stress goes.
