  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New Kit
Hi there,i have a 4 to 5 months old dutch tan and white rabbit, we've had him for a couple of months now,but this morning i noticed he's got a lump type thing on his nose, and he's not yet had his jabs.
It really just looks like fur growing, but weve never had a rabbit before, and i just want to make sure he's ok. His fur seems to be longer on his nose than anywhere else on him. I dont know anything about mitsi,so im just looking for help and advice. He seems fine in himself,he's eating fine and running about fine. What are the signs of mitsi, and can anyone pls tell me what bloat is,how they get it,whats the symptoms, and how is it treated? Thanks very much :?

He has no signs of being ill at all. Ive had a really good look, and its a lump of fur, thats just how it looks, theres not a lump as if he's bumped it.Im going to get a pic 2moro see what you guys think. Thankyou:shock:

If your rabbit has not been vaccinated to protect him from myxie I would strongly ask you to consider taking him to the vet to be vaccinated. This year has been a very bad year for myxie due to the long warmish autumn and wet summer we have had. That way you can get this lump checked up without paying for a separate consultation

I agree with whats already been said. Get your bun booked in for his Myxo vacc and get the vet to look ay the lump whilst your there.

Regardless of whats on his nose he still needs his jabs.

Consider todays episode a warning :?
