  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit has eaten part of panacur tube :-(

Argh :censored:

Crunchie has somehow managed to escape from her run in the garage, and has eaten the lid off a pancur tube and some of the tube itself. I can't find any bits of plastic around, so I presume she's eaten them. :(

Poor Crunchie was starving when I got her about a year ago, and the consequence of this is that she eats anything and everything, so the tube of panacur must have been too tempting.

I'm going to check her after work, but I'm not sure if there's anything else I can do. :?:

Ooooo-Errrr :?

Hopefully if she has actually eaten any plastic it will just pass straight through her over the next 24-36 hours. I am sure she always gets lots of hay and that will help.

Bunnies, just when we think we have them sussed they play another 'trick'

Caspian cannot have his Fiberplex direct from the tube as he eats the tip, it has to go directly onto his food now.

It didnt do him any harm but I would recommend keeping a watchful eye for the next couple of days.

Crunchie seems fine today :D She doesn't seem to have pooped out any plastic tho'. :?

I've just ordered a new 4 foot high run for her and her husbun, so hopefully there will be no more escapes

Don't count on it, my rather 'cuddly' Harry scaled a 5ft gate to get to a foster doe on the other side...

Oo-er...I hadn't even thought of that

She's quite a 'sturdy' (Read: Fat  ) girl now, so hopefully she's too heavy to be that agile.

I have just returned home to find Diggory and one of his sisters running around the lounge, they had escaped from a 3 foot high pen with nothing in it to climb onto.
