  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
I was given a bunny just few days ago..
she was adopted from Nottingham RSPCA.. my friend pick her up from freecycle(!!!!) from a couple who cant continue look after because of new baby..
I said i will have her.. (She is with me now)

the couple said nothing if she already been spayed or now

How do you tell if she been spayed?? she is about 10 months old.. i have emailed RSPCA I heard nothing!!
I tried look her tummy, but she cover with thick fur (winter coat??) looking little plump from lot of food!!

Hiya

Maybe call the RSPCA centre she came from - they will have records. Lots of vets do new bunny check up for free as well and will check her teeth and stuff at the same time and book her vaccinations and worming. Not sure if they can tell if she has been spayed as well though??

I suppose your vets could shave her tummy to see if there is a scar?

I'm not sure, but I *think* Nottingham RSPCA usually give neutering vouchers rather than actually doing the op. themselves.

Your vets should be bale to scan her to find out, I believe its ultrasound they use.

Some RSPCA centres chip their buns when they are neutered - ask your vet to scan the rabbit see if it has been chipped. Oh and try calling the centre, I've found that you get a lot more done a lot quicker by talking to someone.
