Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dexy;'s Galloping Dandruff

I took Dexy to the vet last Tuesday, as he had lots of what looked like dandruff and had some fur loss around his tail area,he has another bald patch on his other side too. He was treated with a new product especially for rabbits and this came in three phials, which were applied to his shoulders, spine and hindquarters. Sorry I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. Anyway, I think it has got worse. Does anyone know if I should give it more time, or should I take him back to the vet now. He has to go back in 3 weeks anyway for a second dose, but I don't want leave it that long, if he can be treated more effectively sooner. I have been combing him each day to get rid of as much as I can, but is it possible, I am making it worse? Sorry photo is so big, I keep trying to resize it.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

You're probably best asking your vet. The treatment might be applied every three weeks for a reason, and you don't want to risk overdosing because it might make your bunny ill.

Oh! I was'nt going to give him anymore of the treatment, as I said, I can't remember what it was called anyway, so I would have to go back to vet for it. I was just alarmed that it did'nt seem to be getting any better.
