Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Baytril!

Hello

I have been given baytril for Molly and I just wanted to ask a stupid  question... it says on the bottle 1 unit per day... I assumed this means 1ml? but i thought that 1ml sounded too much?

I should of phoned the vets today to make sure but I was so panicked and confused about everything I thought I understood what 1 unit meant!

Thanks for your help xx

What is she being treated for?

The usual dose for oral Baytril is between 0.4 and 0.6ml.

It says 2.5% oral baytril on the bottle

He is being treated for having the 'wobbles' the other day. The vet thinks it vestibular syndrome due to trauma in his ear from when he had his abscess, but he is also being treated for EC (pancur) to be on the safe side and the baytril is for incase it is an ear infection.

2.5% Baytril = 25mg/ml or 2.5mg/0.1ml

The dose for ORAL Baytril is 10mg/kg every 12 hours

If its 2.5% baytril (which is given orally) is it 0.1ml?

Depends how much your Bunny weighs

For example a 2kg Bunny would require a dose of 20mg Baytril every 12 hours which is 0.8ml

Its 0.4ml Baytril/ kg of Bunny every 12 hours

If you have some scales weigh yourself (A) then weigh yourself again holding your Bun (B)
The difference between A and B is the weight of your Bun
