You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Sneezing?

Hi all,

Can buns catch colds? I'm not sure, but my Rosie (10 wks old) keeps sneezing every now and then. Should I keep her warm etc?

Oh and another thing I've noticed which I find strange, when she drinks water (out of a bowl) she seems to make gurling noises, not sure if its her drinking or her tummy? Is this normal?

Many thanks

Hi
Is there any discharge coming from her nose?
Tango used to sneeze alot I thought it was just his bedding (used to use wood shavings) turns out he had an chest infection/ snuffles (does have proper name but can't spell it) and was put on antibiotics.

Didn't want to worry you. It might be nothing but I left Tango and it got really bad (not that I am saying she will). One thing I have learnt with Tango if in doubt take him to the vet even if I am worried that the vet thinks I am a rabbit hypercondriac (?sp)

Don't want to worry you, but sneezing can lead to something serious, as Catherine says, can't remember the name, but if I were you, I wouldn't leave it until Monday to take Rosie to the vet. I would take her asap if she were mine, especially as she is quite young still. Let us know what happens.

What bedding and hay do you use? Wood shavings can make them sneeze, as can dusty hay or straw. Bailey used to be sneezy until I changed him to megazorb and dust free hay. He occassionally has a sneeze now, I think he gets something up his nose, never has any discharge etc. Check your bunny's paws too, sometimes they will have wet paws from cleaning snotty noses. Like said, if you are worried definately see a vet, but if the vet says there is nothing wrong, then you could try a bedding change :)
As for the gurgling when drinking, this is normal :) My two do it and I have heard others say their bunnies do it too. Scared me the first few times I heard it too!
