  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

he is sadly very ill. i think just gut stasis but he is in a state. on way to vets now i just hope they can get him up n running. hes just a baby really. hasnt eaten or pooed since i noticed he was off yesterday afternoon and brought him in for observation. have been up all night trying everything, have syringe fed pureed dandelions and everything but hes not interested. his guts are full of poop you can feel it. my vets are full up but im going to sit and wait till they see him. please tell him not to give up:(

im sorry to say that i am crying writing this , and we know what that means
he became much worse on the trip to the vets and although we had a long consultation and discussed a couple of options, the vet gave him a 'much less than 10%' chance of making it through today. he felt that something had gone quite wrong with his bowel which had triggered the stasis ..and by now bloat. Edwin was in so much pain that although i needed some help making the decision i had to let him go. binky free edwin , you were special although we only were your friends for a short time. i know elvis will happily share his patch of meadow with you x x x x
