  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Really need your help with this guys

I have recently posted about my rabbit muffin Who has got some sore looking skin around his gentials there use to be fur there but its nearly all gone and looks sore.
well tonight i have noticed that there is some fur missing under his chin and it was there the other night. Muffin has recently gotten over nodular myxi but that was a few weeks ago now and am wondering what could be wrong with my little man ?:( I bathed the skin with salt water and put some camomlie cream on the skin to sooth it

If you hadn't mentioned Myxi, I would have suggested that as a possible, but I'm with Wuzzy, get a vet check just to be sure. Hope he's on the mend soon.:D Let us know how you get on.

Seen as this has obviously spread quite rapidly and that none of the other suggested problems would extend to fur loss around the mouth I really think its time you get Muffin to the vets, especially if you have a recent history of Myxi.
