This is sort of a bunny question! I have been going backwards and forwards with my 3 guinea pigs to the vet for months now and, despite numerous antibiotics, they still have persistent cystitis.
Anyway, the vet today mentioned that, as part of the other options/ideas, he had recently heard that rabbits who have persistent urinary tract problems can turn out to have coccidiosis causing problems in their kidneys, and are cured by coccidiosis treatment (didn't say what). In theory this could be the case with guinea pigs.
This seems odd to me - I thought coccidiosis caused diarrhoea. Just wondered if anyone knew anything in general about it (bunnies or piggies).
